Magic Cube is a compact laser, no bigger than a cigarette lighter, which projects a standard-63-key keyboard onto any kind of flat, non-reflective and non-transparent surface. It is compatible with a wide array of mobile devices, from iPads and iPhones to Smartphones and Blackberry tablets, actually anything that operates Bluetooth HID. If you want to use Magic Cube with your computer, you will need a USB port though. On top of that, Magic Cube is the only keyboard that you can use in absolute darkness, and it also functions as a multi-touch mouse.

Since Magic Cube projects a condensed QWERTY keyboard (size: 295 x 95 mm), the experience of typing is quite different to the standard one. The device works by detecting movement above the surface of each virtual key via a motion sensor, with the detection rate of up to 400 characters per minute, while the keyboard is projected some 6 cm from the unit. You can use Magic Cube for up to two hours of uninterrupted typing, and charge it via wired USB.Magic_Cube_Laser_Projection_Keyboard_Touchpad_Celluon_6
Celluon – the manufacturer of Magic Cube – explains the technology behind the product: “The ‘projection keyboard’ is made possible through the incorporation of the 3D Electronic Perception Technology (EPT). This innovation enables everyday devices to “see” the world around them so they can perceive and interact with it. The EPT tracks your finger movements and translates them into keystrokes in the device.”
If you are looking for a futuristic-looking alternative to your standard keyboard, and don’t mind people staring you in amazement when using it, than Magic Cube is right up your alley – this video clip is for you, or to remember our other article - Celluon evoMouse.
